Design Project: Comfortable Contemporary
This 1,100 square foot kitchen/family room combination was the culmination of a multi-phase project. This wonderful client originally asked about “having a few things moved around and refreshed”. We ended up working together for years and redoing the entire home.
The program for the kitchen was simple, provide as many areas to work without getting in each other’s way. Three zones were created; the “chef’s area” running the length of the wall, the “prep area” occupying the island, and the “breakfast kitchen” complete with it’s own microwave and refrigerator drawer so the teenagers can fix themselves a snack or breakfast away from the busier parts of the kitchen. All of the areas surround a ten foot long table that can accommodate homework projects as well as large casual dinner parties.
Cabinetry by Snaidero, breakfast chairs from Gordon International, table by Drexel. Custom ceiling fixtures. Sectional by Kravet with fabrics from Romo, Inc. Sideboard by Bolier & Company.
